Let yourself be guided and enjoy this special half-day of rhum tasting and discovering exceptional Guadeloupean distilleries with a guide specialising in rums. After a comfortable ride in our minibus, you’ll start the tour at two exceptional distilleries in Basse-Terre.
The Longueteau Estate: this distillery boasts over a century’s expertise in the production of exceptional agricole rums. Here you’ll meet people who are passionate about rhums. You will learn about the continuous distillation process for agricole rums, and visit the distillery and fermentation area. You will taste their rhums. You’ll walk through the cane fields and discover how the soil can influence the taste of the rums…
In the same region, you will visit the Papa Rouyo distillery. You’ll be immersed in a distillery on a human scale, whose controlled production enables it to produce remarkably fine rhums. You’ll discover a different approach to distillation, known as discontinuous distillation, where small batches of rhum are processed with finesse and expertise. An introduction to the analytical tasting of their rhums will be offered at the end of the visit with an in-house guide.
Our guide will also take you to Grande-Terre to visit Maroon. This establishment specialises in the production and maturation of spiced rhums. You’ll learn about the process of making spiced rhums and visit the rhum-making and maceration workshop. A tasting of 3 spiced rhums will be offered at the end of the tour in the boutique.
Throughout the tour, our guide will tell you about the history of Guadeloupe agricole’s rhums and offer you a tasting of local sugarcane treats. At least 9 rhum tastings will be offered during this tour.
